Every year, societies are expected to elect a new committee for the next academic year. No matter what your society is, or how new it is, you are required to hold an election.

Nominations close- Friday 29 March
Voting opens-Monday 1 April
Voting closes- Sunday 7 April
24 hour complaints window- Monday 8 April
Results Announced-Wednesday 10 April
Summer term- This is the handover window when the old committee hands over to the new committee. The Students' Union will provide resources to support you with this. You will also have a meeting with a member of the communities team during this time.
1st August- Official handover date (all new committee to have completed training)
Elections will be held online via the Students’ Union website. In exceptional circumstances, we may allow internal elections through an Annual General Meeting. There are many requirements for this, so please email sucommunities@city.ac.uk telling us why you want to host your election this way.
All societies will have an election set up for them based on the positions that currently exist. For example, if you currently have a President, Finance Officer and Communications Officer, these are the positions that will be posted on the elections page.
All students, when they log into the SU page, will see an elections widget. This will feature all societies that they are a member of.
Once nominations open, all society members will be able to see a nominations page, where they can put themselves forward for the election. During the voting week, this widget will change, and all members will be able to vote for the candidates that put themselves forward.
You can find a full list of the Society Committee Elections Rules and Regulations here.

Don't worry, we will have a comprehensive training session for all new committee members over the summer, and one in October, where we will train to you run a society successfully. You will also be able to drop by the Students' Union and chat with the Communities Team if you ever need advice!
If you don't see any elections below this message, chances are you're not a member of any societies! Head over to our society page to join some. If the problem persists, please email sucommunities@city.ac.uk.
You can nominate yourself for a position via the election widget below.
There are several key rules that govern our elections. As all elections must be fair, you cannot coerce other students to vote for you. Examples of this may include:
