Welcome to St George’s University Cricket Club!
Here at SGUL CC we cater for all abilities with 2 outdoor teams. Our 1st XI reached the United Hospital 50 over Cup final for the last three seasons, winning the cup in 2022 and the UH T20 cup in 2023. Our 2nd XI is for all abilities, generally being a more social side that competes in BUCS and plays more casual friendlies throughout the summer.
During the Winter, we have two indoor teams that play in a local league against a mixture of university and club teams. Our 1st VI has a great record, reaching the final of the Surrey Slam tournament in 2024 and winning in 2023! Indoor training sessions run twice weekly at Canons leisure centre, Mitcham on a Tuesday and a Friday 6-8pm. Indoor games are played every Thursday evening. Outdoor games in the summer are generally played on a Wednesday and Sunday.
Outside of cricket, we run weekly socials: sport’s night in the Dragon bar, curries in Tooting, or Top Golf in Greenwich just to name a few! In January this year we ventured on our very first international tour to Lisbon with a weekend packed full of exploring the city and an afternoon of paintballing! During the Winter months, you will get the chance to scrub up in black tie and attend a 3-course dinner which is full of entertainment.
SGUL CC members come from a wide range of academic backgrounds. Recently, a few seniors have been offering revision sessions for 1st and 2nd year students to ensure they feel confident for their exams. We take pride in making sure our members have a well-rounded university experience.
We are proud to be sponsored by BAPIO who are an organisation aiding medical graduates, and promoting diversity within the NHS. BAPIO offers many opportunities to attend conferences, present papers, and network with like-minded students. A link to the BAPIO Young Doctors Forum is below for membership details.
