The Students’ Union recently concluded the first-ever Leadership Skills Development Programme, aimed at developing students in various leadership positions within the SU. Through sessions held throughout February and March, participants were given the opportunity to improve essential skills they might need as they start their careers. These were skills such as strengths reflection, public speaking, negotiation, authentic leadership, sustainability, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Project Management.
We are thrilled to announce that 13 students, representing a diverse array of courses and academic levels, successfully completed the programme! Among them were programme reps, society committee members, an assembly member, and some students overlapping multiple roles!
Students who completed the programme were rewarded with certificates, LinkedIn badges, and individual skills reports. These achievements will not only strengthen participants' student leadership (even contributing to the Graduate Attribute log and Employability Award) but also their professional leadership.
We aim to continue empowering City student leaders – so if you are a society committee member, programme rep, or working for the SU in a student leadership role – keep an eye out for when we announce the next cohort in Term one 2024/25 - We can’t wait to welcome you on!
