We're five Academic Impacts in and the grind hasn't stopped! Read about all our latest wins at the Union.
Our New Democracy
1, We had our last Student Council at City last month. This is a termly meeting where student council members could hold Officers to account and to pass student policy. You can see all the current student policy that the SU is working on delivering.
2, As you already know, we've changed the way democracy is done at City in this year's elections. As a result, our student councillor and part-time and full-time officer roles will be scrapped with a new Assembly and a 4 people SU Officer Team. You can read more about the changes here. At the end of our successful election period, we are proud to announce the election results of who will be representing you from next year!
Societies
1, Societies have continued their activity from last month, with regular events taking place across all of the campus spaces. They are also in the process of electing their new committees for next academic year, and many societies have already done so.
EDI Reps
1, Our team of 8 EDI Reps have been inducted and begun attending various meetings and workshops on key strategic EDI Projects at City. Most notably the EDI Reps attended the Race Equality Charter Away Day where they represented the student voice and provided invaluable student feedback on the proposed action to address racial inequality at City. The EDI Reps will soon be conducting research into students of colours’ experience of welcome week and induction at City. Keep an eye out on social media as we will soon be introducing the EDI Reps to you and giving you the chance to get to know them and share your feedback.
SU Awards 2022 Shortlists
1, The shortlists for this year’s SU Awards have been announced, and invites for the ceremony in May have been posted! You can purchase your tickets on our website very soon to be a part of the annual event and celebrate the superstars of City over a special dinner at the Saddlers Hall.
Student Voice Report
1, We've submitted our Term 1 Student Voice Report. This termly report captures the main themes of issues across City and each School in the analysis of Programme Rep feedback. We’ve voiced the issues you may have experienced in Term 1 and have presented recommendations to the University. You can read the full report here.
Events
1, In collaboration with the Wolfpack, the SU have launched a new weekly ping pong social, City Bounce. Over 60 students came down to enjoy the tournaments, pizza and music, and there's more where that's come from!
2, We collaborated with City Careers & Employability to deliver our first ever National Careers Week! We ran photo competitions, workshops, and skills focused sessions on key areas including Adaptability and Entrepreneurship. You can find out about all the great employability work we're doing, by clicking here.
