City’s Charter provides that shall be a Senate of City which shall have delegated authority from the Council for the enhancement of academic quality and assurance of academic standards. For the avoidance of doubt this includes authority over student appeals and discipline.
The Union has five positions on Senate for Student Members which is stipulated in the Ordinances of City, University of London.
Following the 2023 elections, four of the five positions have been filled by the currently elected 2023-24 sabbatical officer team. However, there remains one vacancy for a Postgraduate research student.
As a member of the Senate, you will share a vital role in ensuring that the City's academic reputation is maintained and that the institution continuously seeks to improve the quality of its education and research by reviewing best practice and innovation. You can read more here.
Appointing to the position
To appoint to the position A panel comprising of two sabbatical officers and the CEO (or their delegate) will consider all submitted applications and invite suitable candidates to a short interview. Interviews will take place in person.
The successful applicant will be required to attend the five Senate meetings (dates below)

Meetings start at 2pm, last approximately for three hours and take place in person at Northampton Square.
Applications for the position will close on Friday 13 October at 5pm; applicants will be notified of interview by end of business on the same day. Short interviews will take place between 4-6pm on Monday 16 October and/or 3-5pm on Tuesday 17 October. Please find the application form below.
