City Students' Union achieves ‘Excellent’ Green Impact Award

City Students’ Union are extremely proud to announce that we have been awarded with ‘Excellent’ in this year’s NUS Green Impact Awards, which is the highest accreditation that can be achieved. Not only is this is a huge step up from our two year running score of ‘Good’, this achievement recognises the Union’s active effort towards becoming a more sustainable organisation and its campaign to protect the environment.

Some of the impactful work by the Students’ Union this year include the motion passing of Tackling Climate Change Framework in the Annual General Meeting; in collaboration with the University and the Students’ Union, this policy commits to a three-year plan for a more sustainable City and to reaching a net zero target; ongoing activity throughout the year also saw the launch of the Sustainable Foods Campaign where the Union engaged with City students on plant-based dietary information.

This year was successful with ongoing dialogue on environmental policies and furthering campaign aims during monthly meetings between City Sustainability and the elected Environmental Officer. Further to this, great conversations have been started with the University’s catering supplier Sodexo on becoming more sustainable in their operations, which we are eager to build on in the coming future.

We hope we can keep up the excellent work that has been done this year and work towards a sustainable City together! If there is anything you would like to see us do on sustainability, let us know by emailing studentrep@city.ac.uk.
