This morning (Thursday 12 January 2023), the National Union of Students (NUS) released an independent KC led report into allegations of antisemitism within the NUS.
The report found that the NUS has failed to sufficiently challenge antisemitism and hostility towards Jewish students and that they do not feel welcome or included within the NUS.
However, this report is not exclusively focused on the NUS and demonstrates that antisemitism is prevalent across the student movement.
This is an important moment for the NUS and students’ unions to reflect on the findings and take credible action. The report has identified eleven actions for the NUS, which we fully endorse.
We also recognise that within our own community at City, we need to do better and we are committed to working with our Jewish students to formulate an action plan to tackle antisemitism and improve the Jewish student experience.
