Grenfell disaster has had a tremendous impact on lives of many people including some City students. The questions of how a disaster of that scale could have happened in the wealthiest borough of the 5th richest country in the world are yet to be answered and some people who lost their homes on the night of the tragedy are still in temporary accommodations. Nonetheless, 14th June should be a day of remembrance of those who lost their lives and commemoration of the incredible support of the local and wider UK community who came together to help after the tragedy.
Grenfell United, an association made up of the survivors and bereaved from the Grenfell Tower fire, has designed the event #GreenforGrenfellDay to celebrate a spirit of unity and collaboration which will take place on 14th & 15th June.
To join in, you are asked to:
• join 72 seconds of silence at midday on 14th June
• wear something green to school, work, or out and about
• help your local community with a project
• let the world know about your support using the hashtag #GreenforGrenfellDay.
Grenfell. Forever in our hearts.
