NUS Referendum Results

The referendum into City Students’ Union’s affiliation to the NUSUK and NUS Charity has come to a close and we can now announce the results.

Students were voting on the question; ‘Should City, University of London Students’ Union disaffiliate from the National Union of Students (UK) and the NUS Students’ Union Charitable Services? ‘’Voting took place online from Monday 27th March, 09:00 - Wednesday 29th March, 16:00.

In line with our Constitution, in order for this referendum decision to be valid, at least 5% of City Students’ Union members (1091) needed to cast their vote. At the end of the referendum, 1052 votes were cast. 913 votes (86.7%) were cast to disaffiliate from NUSUK and NUS Charity, 131 votes (12.4%) were cast to remain affiliated, and 8 (0.7%) votes were cast to abstain.

Because under 5% of members voted, this referendum is not considered valid. Therefore, City Students Union will remain affiliated to NUSUK and the NUS Charity. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part in the referendum. If you have any questions, you can contact either the Deputy Returning Officer or the SU Representation at
