New Year, New Impacts: Your Union, Kickstarting 2023

We have made significant contributions to the university community at the start of this new year. As an organisation, we are dedicated to ensuring that the student experience at City is positive and fulfilling, and we have been working tirelessly to achieve this goal. Here are some of the key impacts City Students’ Union has made so far this year:

  1. AQS Reaccreditation: We have been reaccredited with AQS (the Advice Quality Standard), which means the advice we give to students is of the highest quality. This is a testament to the Union's commitment to providing accurate and reliable information to students, and ensuring that they have access to the support they need.

  2. Submitting the TEF: We have submitted its contribution to the Teaching Excellence Framework, where we have provided valuable insights into the views of students at City. More information on TEF can be found here.

  3. School-Based Meet and Greets: To build a sense of community within the schools, we held school-based meet and greets, where students can come together to discuss their experiences and make new friends. This has been a great opportunity for students to get to know each other and build relationships.

  4. Study Well Events: We delivered well-attended Study Well events, aimed at supporting students during their studies. These events provide students with practical tips and tricks for staying motivated and on top of their work, as well as giving you a chance to connect with others who are facing similar challenges.

  5. Student Check-In Report: We presented the student check-in report to the University, showing them how students are currently feeling at City. This report is an important tool for the University, as it provides them with valuable information on what is working well and what needs to be improved in terms of student experience.

  6. Refreshers Activity: We have organised refreshers activities for students, with over 1000 students attending our fairs and 16 Give it a Go sessions. These activities provide students with an opportunity to get involved in new and exciting activities, and build their skills and confidence.

  7. Assembly Meeting: We held our first assembly meeting this year, where school representatives came together to progress the Union's priorities and share the feedback they have gathered from other students. This meeting was a great opportunity for representatives to work together to make positive changes for the student body.

  8. Support During Strikes: We have made sure that we are here to support students through the current strikes, with information available on the Strike Hub.
