The timeline for the Union’s Autumn Elections has had to be extended due to a data issue which was preventing some students from being able to nominate themselves for certain positions.  The issue has now been resolved, but if you are experiencing problems, please email SUElections@city.ac.uk.

Several issues relating to the Union’s website and student data were flagged by the Union staff team to the Deputy Returning Officer.  Following an investigation by the Elections Team into data issues, and a conversation with Elections Support at the National Union of Students (NUS) the decision has been taken to extend the elections timeline.

The Deputy Returning Officer identified that the data issues will have, and would have resulted in the following:

  • Students from certain programmes unable to nominate themselves for positions in the election.
  • Students from certain programmes unable to vote in the election.

To ensure a fair election the timeline for the Autumn Elections has been amended, the new key dates are as follows:

Nominations close on Sunday 24th October at 11:59pm.

The Candidate Briefing will take place on Monday 25th October, 6:00pm – 7:00pm, online.

Voting will now open on Monday 1st November, 9:00am

Voting will close on Thursday 4th November, 4:00pm

Results are expected on Friday 5th November if there are no outstanding complaints concerning any of the elections.

Any student who has already nominated themselves in this election will not be affected by this decision and their nomination will remain. The Deputy Returning Officer will be in touch with all those who have already nominated themselves today (Monday 18th October).

If you have any questions about this, please email Hannah Roberts, Deputy Returning Officer on SUElections@city.ac.uk
