The first all-school Programme Rep Reception took place in the Pavilion on 31st January. The Students’ Union welcomed over 150 students across all schools and City Staff members and academics. This event was designed to give an opportunity for Programme Reps to network with each other, but also to speak to members of staff about the issues or concerns their cohort are facing during their academic year at City.
Programme Reps enjoyed the event and agreed that the reception provided a good platform to speak to each other and to members of Staff. Over 81% of attendees were either very satisfied or satisfied by the networking opportunity, with other 63% of Programme Reps being able to speak with an academic from their school easily.
This event was also marked by the launch of the Programme Rep Handbook 2018/19 which was designed and published by the Representation team at the Students’ Union. The handbook is a guide for Programme Reps of all school and contains useful information to help them in their role. Programme Reps said that they found the handbook to be very valuable with most of them agreeing it was extremely helpful and very helpful (52%).
Professor David Bolton and Vice President of Education, Tuna Kunt delivered a speech during the event.
“We were delighted with the turnout and by the level of enthusiasm shown both by our students and academic staff to meet and have valuable conversations on a variety of topics through the evening, including academic experience, student wellbeing, the programme representative scheme and many more! We hope to build on this event over the years and use it well, as a means to bring City students and staff together, to celebrate our reps and to collect feedback!” – Said Tuna Kunt, Vice president of Education.

The event was a major success for both students and City staff. More than 70% of Programme Reps agreed that they would come to the next reception.
Our next Programme Rep Reception will be held just before the Academic Impact Awards ceremony on the 16th of May 2019 at The Foyer from 5 p.m. and we are excited to welcome Programme Reps to this event.
