The final Assembly of the year included the Student Members Meeting. Hifsa Khan, Speaker of the Assembly, kicked off the meeting with a warm welcome, expressing heartfelt thanks to those who contributed throughout the year. The meeting covered a range of exciting topics, including affiliations, finance, union updates, advice, and student paper submissions.

Affiliations Overview

Nasir Mohammed, Deputy President (Communities and Events), took the stage to present the affiliations of the City St George’s Students’ Union (CSGCU) and its societies and sports teams. These included the National Union of Students (NUS) Charity and NUS UK.

Finance Report

Philip Gilks, Chief Executive, delivered a comprehensive and optimistic finance report for the 2023/24 academic year. The legacy City Students' Union celebrated a positive financial year, with increased block funding for sports and student voice roles. The legacy St George's Students' Union also had a strong year despite a slight deficit. The merger of the two unions was highlighted as a challenging yet promising endeavour, ensuring future financial security with strong reserves.

Union Update

Nasir Mohammed and Eve Harwood, Deputy President (Welfare – Tooting), gave a summary of the union's achievements over the past year. Highlights included the successful merger of the legacy unions, record-breaking election turnout, reopening of sports facilities, and the thrilling victory in Varsity 2025 against Kingston University.

Advice Report

Eve Harwood shared insights into the main themes in student advice, such as academic appeals, complaints, and welfare issues. The alignment of advice services across sites and the recruitment of new advisors were emphasised, promising enhanced support for students.

Student Paper Submissions

A proposal by Ashton Sheperd, Deputy President (Wellbeing and Equity), on introducing wellbeing officers and compulsory wellbeing training for societies was discussed with great interest. The proposal received positive feedback and was approved with a majority vote, marking a significant step towards prioritising student wellbeing.
