Nominations are now open for The Sports Awards 2017

It's time for you to nominate the most outstanding individuals and teams to be recognised in the Sport & Leisure Department's annual awards ceremony.

This year's Sports Awards are back, and it's time for you to nominate the most outstanding individuals and teams to be recognised in this year's ceremony. The awards are organised by the Sport & Leisure Department, and we (City Students' Union) are working with them in the selection process.

To nominate an individual or team/club, read the full form, fill it out, and pop it back to sports@city.ac.uk by midnight on the 30th of April 2017.

Individual awards

Club Colours

This can be awarded to any number of sports team members. Club Colours are awarded to City University sports team members who have provided outstanding service to a team.

Full Colours

Awarded to any number of sports team members or individual competitors who have participated at national or international level after a selection process.

Half Colours

Awarded to any number of sports team members or individual competitors who have been selected for a BUCS/SESSA or an equivalent students’ competition to represent on a regional level, or selected to compete at a regional level in a national competition (including non-student competitions).

Newcomer of the year

Awarded to a City University sports team member who has been extremely engaged with one or more sports teams and as a result has made a significant impact on a single or multiple teams.

Service to Sport

Given in recognition of an individual (player, committee member, coach, fan or other) who has shown remarkable commitment to a particular City University sports team and/or the TeamCity community as a whole.

Sports Person of the Year

Awarded to a City University Sports team member or individual competitor who has excelled at their sport in the current season.

Team and club awards

Charitable Club of the Year

Awarded to a club that has been significantly pro-active carrying out charitable work and volunteering.

Inclusive Club of the Year

Awarded to a club that has made an outstanding effort to be inclusive and can demonstrate it is supportive of equity, equality and diversity for and in its membership.

Best Marketing and Publications

Awarded to a club that has made an outstanding effort in its marketing and public relations. Online and physical marketing efforts should be highlighted.

Most Improved Club

Awarded to a club that has a shown significant improvement in comparison to the previous academic year in several key areas.

Club of the Year

Awarded to the club that has offered the best service to its members and has contributed the most to the development and promotion of sport at City University.

Team of the Year

This trophy is awarded for outstanding sporting success in the current season. Any sports team that has competed on behalf of City University in a BUCS, LUSL or equivalent competition is eligible for this award.

Special awards

Coach of the Year award

This is awarded to a coach that has gone above and beyond this year. If they offer you dedication & commitment, give that extra mile, and just deserve recognition for what they've done, then this awrd is for them.
