We are now well into Spring and hopefully everyone has had the chance to unwind after a busy Term 2. Maybe we’re just glad to finally feel the sun on our faces, but some say Spring inspires hope and change - and we’ve been doing our best to channel that energy into our campaigns and wins for students this term.

Here are some of our highlights:

• Talent Hunt Show: We held our first ever Talent Show in CityBar in February. Over 100 students came to watch eight acts perform on the night and it was a huge success for a first time event.
   
• Cost of Living Fair: For this year’s National Student Money Week we invited students to our Cost of Living Fair, where we shared money-saving tips and raised awareness of key support services. We had some great conversations at our stalls and we hope students left feeling like we’ve got their back through this tough period.
   
• Postgraduate Party: Our sold-out Postgraduate Easter Mixer at the Sekforde pub in March was a huge success. Many of the students were eager to know what else we’ve been planning with the postgraduate community and all we can say is watch this space ??
   
• Record-breaking elections: We received 3769 votes in our recent elections, with 8607 individual votes cast for our new Students’ Union Officers, Assembly Members, and NUS Conference Delegates. The results night was one to remember, with over 100 students attending to relax and celebrate after four days of voting. Find out who won on our Elections homepage. We also have 119 societies hosting their committee elections – the most we’ve ever had.
   
• The Awards 2023: Speaking of breaking records, we also reached the highest number of nominations ever for this year’s Awards, closing with 1025 nominations! See who was shortlisted on the Awards homepage - or even better, come along and celebrate with us on Thursday 11 May at Shoreditch Town Hall! Tickets can be purchased here.
   
• Academic Integrity & Misconduct campaign: On Thursday 13 April we held an Academic Misconduct & Academic Integrity event with Dr Deborah Rafalin from the School of Health and Psychological Sciences, in collaboration with Academic Skills and our Advice team. It was great to see so many students engaging with the session and learning how to get the best out of their assessments while avoiding unintentional academic misconduct. We also heard that some great conversations came out of the Spin the Wheel game.
   
• Interschool Sports Day: After successfully winning Varsity, we kept the momentum going for our first ever Interschool Sports Day at CitySports. Over 70 people took part and we loved being able to raise awareness of non-competitive sport here at City as we start a new initiative to make a wide variety of sports more accessible for students.
   
• Easter Egg Hunt: Around 480 students engaged with the Easter Egg Hunt and went home with their very own chocolate egg.
   
• Assembly Priorities: Newly elected and outgoing Assembly Members met together on Wednesday 5 April to discuss and set the Student Unions’ priorities for next academic year. These are 1. Assessment Support and Timetabling, 2. Student Communities and Events, 3. Careers and Employability, and 4. Cost of Living Support. Action plans and objectives will be written in the summer between the newly elected Students’ Union Officers and our Micro-Placement students.

This term has been packed full of activity and while we’re sad to see the end of the term two buzz, but we’re glad to get the chance to reset before exams. We hope you get to feel the breeze and take the time to pause before you get busy revising.
