What Does Employability Mean to You?

A warm welcome to City University of London! We know your time here is more than just lectures and exams. It's also about preparing for your future. We at City Students’ Union are here to help you enhance your career and help build your confidence with the skills you learn at university.

Our employability sessions, events, and placements are designed to boost your skills, connect you with industry experts, and make you stand out in the professional world.

There are many ways to get involved and learn more about what we do, more importantly gaining practical experience! 

 

Micro-Placement Programme (MPP)  

We are proud to be a host for the MPP! By spending a month with us, you will not only gain valuable insight into all the exciting things we do, but work on impactful projects that benefit the SU and the wider University and Community! This is a sure way of gaining valuable work experience and skills to talk about at your next job interview.

Join a Society

With many societies to choose from, be part of a team helping with events, matches or sessions. You can even become a Committee Member with roles like President, Communications lead, or Finance lead.

Event Student Staff

Support us for Welcome Week, and other events throughout the year. Roles include helping setup, packing down, preparing merch goodies, distributing posters around campus, advising students, and much more!

Programme Representative

Play a key role in ensuring that all students have a voice and an opportunity to share feedback about their learning experience. You can help students make as many positive changes as possible and ultimately, help improve the quality of education at City.

EDI Reps

Represent students on equality diversity and inclusion - you provide the student voice, research and then represent student concerns and propose student led initiatives on EDI.  You will also review, comment on and contribute to the progression of key EDI projects impacting City students.

Assembly Members

Talk to students in your School to understand the issues they are facing, attend at least three meetings across the year and set, review and progress the Union’s priorities.

Policy Assistant*

Work on priorities set by the Assembly and provide on the ground support such as collating student feedback and sharing the data with Assembly Members.
