After hearing from students CityBar will no longer be serving hot food, I enquired with Sodexo to gather the reasoning behind this decision. Not serving hot food at CityBar was not a good decision, as CityBar should be a place accessible for all students, as a dedicated student area. The lack of food results in a space which is not accessible to students who do not drink alcohol. This does not reflect our diverse student population.
"it was not a good decision"
After enquiring with Sodexo, City Student’s Union was pleased to hear food would now be served from 5:30-7:30pm. However I believed more could be done, so I requested a meeting with Sodexo to highlight our concerns. After highlighting welfare concerns, such as not serving food where alcohol is present, and the need for our societies to be supported in their activities, City Students Union and Sodexo reach a positive conclusion that bar food will be served from 3:00pm-7:30pm. This is beneficial for our student societies as a chef will now be in place to allow for societies catering during this period without incurring a chef fee cost. These positive discussion led to further discussion about how City Students’ Union and Sodexo can support our societies further. We will continue these discussions over the next few months.
Representing all students and their concerns is extremely important to City Students Union. We want our students to have the best possible outcomes possible, so we will always remain a Union that is thinking about all its members and how we can continuously impact on the students experience here at City, University of London.
