Winter Festival comes to City!

City Students’ Union brought the Winter Festival to City for the first time ever on Thursday 8th December. The event was attended by over 1500 City students as well as members of staff and the local community.

We completely took over the Pavillion and Northampton Square with games, a giant Snow globe photobooth, gingerbread house building, music, Christmas Card and Bauble decorating, and we even had a Secret Santa scavenger hunt!

At lunchtime, the canteen got a festive makeover with delicious treats like baked camembert, Moroccan spiced lamb and festive sandwiches. They even served up tasty treats including Mince Pies, Mulled Wine and Mulled Juice too.

Your Students’ Union Officers were also out and about! SU President, Ges said: “I have never seen such a buzz on campus with so many activities and students interacting so much until late evening hours. The Winter Festival was definitely a huge success, it brought everyone together and created a sense of community”.

You might have even seen Fortune, Deputy President dressed up as an elf and staying true to his new temporary festive title by helping around the Spin to Win Wheel where students had the chance to win a whole host of prizes.

He said: “In all my time at city, I have never seen anything that brings students together as much as this festive season does! This community feeing is something that everyone at the SU worked so hard towards. The festival was a sign of what we can achieve when we work together. The Students' Union Winter Festival was simply fantastic!”

Deputy President Yavuz worked with SU staff Jitendra on our Academic Misconduct stall! This winter period, we’re making sure you get the most out of your studies and if you walked saw the arts and crafts table then you must have picked up one of our Advice Team’s winter festival chocolates!

Yavuz said: “ The Winter Festival was so nice, I’m really impressed by the level of preparation from SU staff. It made me really happy to see so many smiling faces with Santa hats on and I enjoyed some minced pies and mulled wine while chatting with friends”.

In the afternoon we had the crowd gather around in the Pavilion for a spectacular performance from City Choir, made up of students and staff from the music department. Chaplaincy Coordinator, Ian also shared loving messages from City staff and students about what Christmas means to them.

It was lovely to see all of your amazing messages, videos and pictures from the day!
